St Catherine Monastery and Mt. Sinai

St. Catherine Monastery traces its founding to about AD 330, and is believed to be the site where the Burning Bush from which God spoke to Moses is situated, close to the mountain where he received the Ten Commands.

The Monastery is open for visitors from 9 am to 11 am. Closed on Friday and Sunday. You can choose between a trip including a visit to Mt. Moses to see the sunrise (departure 10 pm) or just a visit to the Monastery (departure 8 am). 

St. Catherine Monastery only

Departure from Dahab at 8.am. Visit the Church of the Transfiguration, and the Sacred Sacristy, have a look at the Burning Bush. To visit the Library, you will need to purchase an extra ticket. 

To enter the monastery, you will have to cover both your upper arms and knees. Return to Dahab at 2.pm

Mt. Moses and St. Catherine Monastery

Departure from Dahab at 10 pm! You can ask the reception of the hotel for a ‘breakfast take away box’.

Hike the trail to the top of Mt Moses with a local National Park Guide. At the top, we will wait for the sun to come up and shine her light over the Sinai Mountain range, with it’s spectacular colors. After this spectacle, we will descend on the other site of the mountain and bring a visit to the Monastery.

At the top of the mountain, there is a small coffeeshop, and an opportunity to rent a blanket or a small mattress to sit on.
